I am starting to think of the new school year and wanting to do something different with my classes the first day of school. I have made a survey on survey monkey to get to know my new students but they will have to complete it from home as they will not have logins to the network on the first day. Any ideas or suggestions for high school students?
I have always had the students complete a time capsule. I have them fill out the list of questions and take their picture. I print the pictures and put it with their answers. Then at the end of the year we have a good time looking at how much they have changed and how their answers have changed. Here is a link that I googled but you can change it to suit your age group. http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/back-to-school-time-capsule-710493/
ReplyDeleteI have my students write a paper on where they are currently in life, what their yearly goals are, and what they are doing to accomplish their goals. Then I have them draw a picture of themselves now. Then I give back to them on the last day, and have them respond to see if they have met their goals or what they are doing to still achieve them. Then have them draw a final picture of where they are now. I teach elementary school, but it might work!

I think this a wonderful idea. More than 75% of your students have access to the internet at home. The students who don't have access print out a copy and give them a hard copy. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteI actually have two laptops for student use in my class so those that do not have internet access at home can use these in class. My district is very technology driven and supportive, I love it!
